Supta Konasana

Meaning: Supta – lying down ; Kona – angleSuptakonasana
                 The asana forms an angle in lying down posture.

Procedure:
Lie down on the back with legs stretched and joined,hands on the either side of the body. Inhaling, raise  the lower body from the trunk region, supporting it with hands. Exhaling, keep the toes straight above the head ( halasana posture). As you inhale, hold both the toes with respective hands and spread the legs apart without bending the knees. Close your eyes and breathe normally a few times. Exhaling, join the legs and release the hands. While inhaling, come up and as you exhale, come back to normal lying position.

  • Tones the hanstring muscles
  • Strengthens the lungs
  • Regularise bowel movements
  • Cures thyroid problems
  • Relieves menstrual disorders

Limitations:
Women shoulnot practise it in menstruation and pregnancy
