Dhanurasana

Meaning: Dhanu  – bowdhanurasana
                 The asana resembles shape of a bow

Procedure:
Lie flat on your stomach. Deeply inhale  and exhaling, bend the knees. Stretch the arms at the back and hold teh ankles with respective hands. Inhaling, lift the legs and the head up. Look up and breathe for a few times. As you exhale, come down and while inahling, release the hands and lega and come back to normal lying posture.

Benefits:

  • The kidneys are massaged and excess fat around the abdomen is removed
  • The entire elementary canal is reconditioned
  • Affects the entire nervous system and improves concentration.
  • Improves respiration
  • Relieves chest ailments
  • Rejuvenates the spine
  • Enhanced blood circulation
  • Pancreas and andrenal glands are toned
  • Strengthens the pelvic region


Limitations

  • People suffering from hernia, colites , peptic or duodenal ulcers should not practise this
  • Patients of hypertension and heart disorders should also avoid it
  • Slip disc patients should not even attempt to do it
  • Ladies should not practise it  during menstruation and pregnancy
