Evolution of Yoga

evolution of yogaEVOLUTION OF YOGA:

There are largely two interpretation of Yoga i.e. Academic & Traditional.

Academic – Meditation from the root (yujsamadhau)

Traditional – Union with the root ( yujir yoge)

Yoga is universal in its application as various aspects of Yoga over the years have been implied and applied in different ways for the benefit of the people in that era. Being so ancient and yet so complete this science is clearly contemporary as well because of its uniqueness of being able to cover all aspects of human life. Probably the only science that aims at physical wellbeing, mental harmony, emotional stability & spiritual awareness by reaching to the source of lasting happiness and peace by integrating one’s personality in toto.

There are 2 most significant aspects of yoga, that of evolution and involution. Both the concepts have been explained by different sages.

The varied texts on the subject clearly indicate the capacity of this science to achieve the completeness one longs for. One of the most appropriate definitions of Yoga has been mentioned in Patanjali Yoga Sutra by the sage Patanjali as he states:

“YOGA CHITTA VRITTI NIRODHA”

Yoga is stopping or controlling & destroying all fluctuations and activities of the psyche, mind and intellect.

The process for achieving the same includes both physical practices as well as intense mind exercises. For years man has been trying to find the source of absolute happiness. Every passing day, every attempt is in this direction.
