Jatharaparivartasana

Meaning: Jathara – stomach ; Parivartana – turningJathiraparivartanasana
                The asana involves rolling the stomach in one direction.

Procedure:
Lie flat on your back and stretch out both arms side ways in line with the shoulder, palms should face down. Now, inhaling, raise both the legs together till they are perpendicular to the ground. As you exhale, keep both the legs down on the floor, on the right side. Hold the big toes of the legs by the right hand. Turn the head towards the left side and breathe normally a few times. Repeat the same process with your left leg and then come back to normal lying posture.

Benefits:

  • Reduces fat around the stomach
  • Tones and eradicates sluggishness of liver, pancreas and spleen
  • Relieves constipation
  • Strengthens intestines and improves peristalsis
  • Relieves sprain

Limitations:
Should not be practised by those suffering from lower back ache and scaitica
Ladies shouldnot practise it during pregnancy and menstruation
