Maha Mudra

Meaning : Maha -  great; Mudra – restraint;
                  In this posture, apertures at the top and bottom of the trunk are held firm and
                   contracted

Procedure:
Be empty stomach and sit in padmasana. Deeply inhale. While exhaling, hold the right big toe with both hands. As you inhale deeply,raise the head, contract the abdomen, bend the neck and perform kumbhaka. Stay in this position for 5 to 10 counts. Now, raise the head and exhale slowly. Repeat the steps a few times. After having practised on the right side, it should be repeated on the left side as well for the same number of times.

  • Women suffering from prolapsed womb up to its original position
  • Persons suffering from spleen ailments and from enlargement of prostrate gland will benefit by staying in this position for long
  • It cures indigestion
