Pasasana

Meaning: Pasa – rope
               In this asana, the body is tied by the hands like a rope

Procedure:
Sit on the floor with legs stretched and hands on the either side of the body. Inhaling, squat down, with knees and feet together. Exhaling, twist the trunk, bring the left arm around the right thigh, twist the right arm from the shoulder, behind the back and clasp the palms. Gaze at the back. Take a few normal breaths in same posture. Inhaling, release the hands, and look in front. Repeat the same procedure on your left side. Then exhaling, come back to normal sitting posture.

Benefits:

  • Improves flexibility of the joints
  • Removes extra fat around the lower abdomen
  • Expands the chest and improves respiration
  • Tones the spine
  • Cures sluggishness of the liver, spleen and pancreas
  • It is an excellent practise for diabetics
  • Gives strength to the shoulders, improves their movement.

Limitation:
Ladies shouldn’t practise this asana during pregnancy and menstruation
