Purvatanasana
Meaning: Purva- east; In this asana, the complete anterior portion of the body, from forehead to toes, is stretchedProcedure:
Sit on the floor with legs stretched straight and keep your palms on the floor by the side of the hips. While inhaling, keep the palms on the floor on the backside,a foot away from hips. Exhale and again inhaling,lift the body off the floor and look back. Exhale and come down. Now bring the hands to the sides of the body an assume normal sitting posture
Benefits:
- This posture straightens the wrist and the ankles, helps expanding the chest
- Improves the movement of shoulder joints
- Gives relief from fatigue, caused by doing strenuous works
- Relieves back ache, knee joint pain and shoulder pain
- Nullifies the adverse effect caused by posterior stretching pose
