Viparitakarani Mudra

Meaning: viparita- inverted; Karani – who does; Mudrea- posture
                 The body position is achieved  by inverting  the body

Procedure:
Lie down on the back. While inhaling, raise the legs up and keep them vertical. Back should be supported by hands. Inhale deeply, and slowly hold the breathe , perform antahkumbha for five counts. Now exhale slowly and repeat the same practise five times. Exhaling, come down slowly.

Benefits:

  • It maintains the health of thyroid gland  and the venous return to the heart without any strain  by force of gravity
