Yoga Mudra
Meaning: Mudra – that gives happiness
This pose brings about happiness
Procedure:
Sit on the floor with straight vision and legs straight, hands on the either side. Inhale, and as you exhale, fold the right leg and keep the foot on left thigh. Again inhale. Exhaling, fold the left leg and keep the left foot on the right thigh. Inhaling, cross the hands at the back and hold the respective toes with respective hands. Then, exhaling, bend down, close the eyes and keep the head on the ground. Take a few normal breaths. Inhaling, come up and exhaling, release the hands. Again, inhaling, extend the left leg and exhale. Inhaling, extend the right leg.
Benefits:
- Crossing of hands causes expansion of the chest, improves flexibility of the shoulders
- Improves peristalsis and pushes down the accumulated waste in colon
- Relieves constipation
- Awakens kundalini
- Improves function of nervous system
Limitation:
Women should not practise it during pregnancy and menstruation
